At Butler Catholic, we believe children thrive when their bodies and minds work together. That’s why we encourage our students to participate in athletic activities whenever possible.
Athletics provide the opportunity for children to learn values like team work, physical discipline, good sportsmanship, and the desire to achieve a personal best. Our students are taught the importance of winning with humility and losing with dignity.
Butler Catholic offers athletic programs in the fall, winter and spring, including basketball, soccer, cross country, and volleyball. We adhere to a no-cut policy, believing that every child should have an opportunity to develop their athletic talents.
BCS also coordinates with schools across the Diocese of Pittsburgh to ensure students have access to athletic programming not offered on-site, including football, cheer, and hockey, among other things.

Prayer Before Athletic Events
Dear Lord,
You have blessed us with many gifts and talents.
We thank you especially for the ability to participate in sports today.
Help us to play in a Christ like manner.
Help us to play in a way that will foster teamwork.
Help us to play to the best of our ability.
Win or lose, we hope to have fun, make friends and celebrate life.
Amen.
