One of the many wonderful things about attending Butler Catholic School is that students get to participate in treasured traditions throughout the year.
One of those traditions is the blessing of the pets, held annually to celebrate the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals!
Each year, the pet blessing celebration is led by our fourth graders, who prepare songs and prayers for the whole school to participate in. All Saints Parish Deacon Mitch Natali also attended this year’s event, joining BCS faculty and staff as we celebrated all of God’s creations!
Per tradition, our fourth-grade families were invited to attend the event with their family pets, which Deacon Mitch blessed during the ceremony. Students in other grades brought stuffed animal friends from home to represent any pets in their lives.
Though it’s important to adapt to the needs and interests of our current students, many traditions still flourish at BCS. Participating in events such as the pet blessing are vital moments in a BCS education because they show students different ways to practice their faith in their daily lives.
We’re grateful to everyone who made this year’s blessing of the pets a success!
