We want to congratulate Butler Catholic School faculty member Jayne Chobot, who recently received a $600 Elementary/Middle School Science Equipment grant from the Society of Analytical Chemists of Pittsburgh!
To secure the grant, which teachers can apply for every other year, Mrs. Chobot described her philosophy for teaching science. She also detailed ways in which the grant would add to the education of students at Butler Catholic School.
“I have to say how the items will be used in my school and the benefits to the students,” Mrs. Chobot explained.
Mrs. Chobot has received the grant every year she’s applied for it, with the funding going toward several innovative and engaging classroom resources. This year, she received a dendrochronology tree ring dating kit; an Earth-sun planetarium model; beakers; a Families of Elements Experiment kit; and an origami circuits kits for teaching STEM.
We’re excited to see what our students learn using these new tools!
