Students at Butler Catholic School had a special visit from the Butler Area Public Library May 15!
Butler Area Public Library Youth Services Librarian Tiffany Harkleroad visited students in kindergarten through grade eight on Monday morning to share important information about the 2023 Summer Reading Program.
Camp Kindness, which kicks off with a special party June 14, will introduce kids to the adventures of camping and being kind to others—as well as themselves.
"You have a whole summer's worth of fun that you can do for free!" Miss Tiffany explained to students during the presentation.
The program has several special things planned for students in Butler County. Guest presenters will engage with students in different age groups, sharing knowledge and experiences on everything from fishing to taekwondo.
At the same time, the program encourages kids to participate in summer reading by offering special challenges that help them keep track of the books they read.
While asking questions following the presentation, students and teachers wanted to know if students could include assigned summer reading in the library's summer reading challenges.
"That can fit perfectly with what we do at summer reading!" Miss Tiffany said.
