Students in first and second grade at Butler Catholic School recently had an important classroom visit from Penn State Extension Master Gardeners Donna Hall and Maria Worst.
Miss Donna and Miss Maria talked to students about Mr. Yuk and Poison Control, specifically when it comes to pest management. Students learned about different types of household and garden pests, such as insects, rodents, and other wildlife.
Miss Donna and Miss Maria discussed safe, healthy ways to deal with pests using environmental, mechanical, and biological solutions.
The presentation also taught students that when it comes to cleaning and maintenance chemicals, it's important to be cautious and always make sure adults are using supplies safely.
At the end of the presentation, students received take-home packets with special Mr. Yuk stickers to help their families identify hazardous products at home!
