Butler Catholic School second graders recently learned what it means to be a saint by preparing to perform in the annual All Saints Play! Held each year around All Saints’ Day, the play gives students a chance to study the lives of the saints and how they lived out their devotion to God.
Each year, BCS second graders work with their families and teachers to prepare for the event by learning about the lives of holy men and women canonized by the church. They also design and dress in costumes that reflect the saints they choose to represent.
This year’s play occurred Oct. 26 in the BCS chapel and included almost 30 students, who decided on their own which saints they would be. Among this year’s selections were St. Francis, Mother Teresa, and St. Veronica.
Our second grade families were invited to attend the play and learn more about the saints their children studied. After every student presented their saint, visitors joined the second graders and their teachers in prayer and songs celebrating the souls of those who have gone before us.
