The BCS elementary includes students in kindergarten through fourth grade. Our elementary curriculum challenges students to start thinking critically as they prepare to enter middle school.
Academics
Small class sizes are important to us. We are invested in maintaining a low teacher-student ratio, even as students move through upper grades. Our rich academic curriculum is an integration of traditional teaching techniques, hands-on discoveries, student-centered activities, and grade-level interactions in a Catholic environment.
Our Language Arts programming helps teaches students to communicate effectively, to think clearly, and to read independently and strategically. A hands-on approach to mathematics is emphasized as teachers prepare lessons focused on modules and problem solving. Social Studies and science instruction assist students in becoming knowledgeable, engaged citizens. Standardized testing is not emphasized, but rather is seen as one tool that helps our faculty gauge student progress.
Faith Development
Our Catholic school community encourages children to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Through guidance in prayer, religious education, and service, children are encouraged to build the Kingdom of God on earth. Students in second grade prepare to make their First Reconciliation and First Communion. Second graders also participate in an All Saints Day school play, as well as take part in Living Stations of the Cross during Lent. All students attend mass once a week, as well as Eucharistic adoration throughout the year. This helps foster their relationships with Jesus, leading to spiritual and emotional growth.
Enrichment
An essential elementary education also includes classes in art, music, physical education, religion, foreign language, and technology. This allows students to begin to identify and develop all of their God-given abilities and talents, which we celebrate at BCS!
