At Butler Catholic we believe that foreign language at an early age can offer many benefits for students. The study of new language can enhance cognitive development, expand intercultural views, and improve memory, listening and general communication skills. Beginning language study early can also create a comfort and enjoyment of speaking another language and fosters important foundational skills for later advanced language courses.
Our Foreign Language Program begins in kindergarten with Spanish class, and continues through eighth grade, giving students a solid foundation in the Spanish language. At the completion of their eighth grade year, students are prepared to enter Spanish 2 in high school, which is commonly considered an Honors-level course when taken in 9th grade.
