Butler Catholic School has proudly announced the 2024 winners of the Sarah Kasunic/Emily Leyland Memorial Scholarship!
Thomas Edwards, Grace Johns, and Gianna Jungling were formally recognized by the families of Sarah Kasunic and Emily Leyland; BCS staff and students; and All Saints Parish Pastor Fr. Kevin Fazio during our Sept. 6 all-school liturgy!
The scholarship recognizes students in 7th or 8th grade at BCS who are active in their faith; academically consistent; involved in school-sponsored activities; exhibit integrity and Christ-like values; and join in the annual All Saints Parish 5K Run/Walk & 1-Mile Fun Run as either a participant or volunteer.
The scholarship was established in 2022 and inspired by the lives of former BCS graduates Sarah Kasunic and Emily Leyland, two young women who were lost too soon. Funding for the award is raised annually through the All Saints Parish 5K Run/Walk & 1-Mile Fun Run, which this year took place Sept. 7.
To apply for the scholarship, students must submit an application, write an essay, obtain a reference letter from a teacher, and complete a committee interview.
This year’s winners each received $1,000, which will go toward this year’s BCS tuition.
