Mindful of today’s educational needs, Butler Catholic School is undergoing a comprehensive overhaul of its security systems! This upgrade represents a marked evolution from the school's original single-layered entry system, underscoring a deep commitment to the safety of its students, staff, and visitors.
"We are proud to transition from our original, simpler security measures to this advanced, multi-faceted approach," said BCS Director of Technology Justin Hamby.
New Front Entry Security Originally equipped with a basic locked door, mag lock, and communication window, our new front entrance systems utilize multiple layers of security!
Double-Layered Locked Doors: Replacing the school’s original single barrier, our new setup includes two electronically controlled locked doors. This provides an extra layer of physical security to the BCS building.
Pin and Card Access System: A new addition, the pin and card reader system provides BCS with an upgraded secure and personalized entry method.
Advanced Camera Monitoring: Our original system's basic visual monitoring is now expanded with a front-facing body camera for detailed individual surveillance and a higher-view area camera for a comprehensive overview.
We’re also excited to announce the introduction of a sophisticated Raptor Visitor Management System! This marks a departure from the previous informal visitor check-in, enabling automated screening for security threats and efficient visitor tracking.
Exit System Upgraded with Human-Sensing Technology Moving away from motion-sensing technology, our new exit strategy is now bolstered with human-sensing technology. This innovative approach promises greater accuracy and security in monitoring exits.
Enhanced Surveillance for Comprehensive Coverage To further strengthen campus security, the installation of two high-definition cameras at the front entrance is a significant step up from previous surveillance capabilities. These cameras offer an extended field of view and higher resolution imaging, ensuring a more secure perimeter.
We anticipate completing these security upgrades by the end of January, signaling a new chapter in our proactive approach to protecting all members of our BCS community.
"This overhaul is a clear reflection of our unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of everyone at our school,” Hamby concluded.
As we move ahead, we continue to plan and implement ways to make our school a safe, healthy, and effective learning environment for students and staff.
