With Christmas just around the corner, it’s the perfect time for the Scholastic Book Fair to visit Butler Catholic School! In early December, students, teachers, and families had the opportunity to browse book selections and find great gifts for readers young and old.
The Scholastic Book Fair is a great way for schools across the country to earn funding and resources for their school library while helping students to engage with reading. At BCS, annual book fairs lead to the purchase of classroom materials and hundreds of new titles for our school.
Students had a chance to preview the selection of books before participating in a scheduled shopping session during the school day. Families this year had the opportunity to buy Scholastic books online or after school throughout the week.
The book fair is an important tradition at BCS, with school volunteers finding wonderful ways to engage students! One popular aspect is the special drawing students who buy books can participate in on a grade-by-grade basis to win various prizes. Even if students are unable to buy books, no one leaves empty-handed. Book fair volunteers make sure each student gets a piece of candy after they browse shelves.
This year’s book fair had another special treat for students! Thanks to a generous donor, every student at BCS was able to choose a book to take home, with the cost being covered by the anonymous individual! Not only did this give every student a chance to participate in the event. It also helped them share in the joy and adventure of literature!
