“As a teacher, I work to help the children to be empowered, to feel valued, to be listened to, to be competent and successful in school. Each child is encouraged and guided to move beyond his/her current level of understanding. The curriculum is designed to address all areas of development and to meet the needs of diverse groups of learners.”
Personal and Professional Background
Butler Catholic School was my first full-time teaching job, and I have been teaching kindergarten since 2001. I am a graduate of Knoch High School, and earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Clarion University.
I currently live in Center Township with my husband Doug, our son Troy, and our two dogs Bentley and Bo. Troy is currently in tenth grade at Butler Intermediate. I enjoy every minute I spend with my husband and son, and our family belongs to All Saints Parish in Butler.
My favorite prayer is Guardian Angel because my mother-in-law passed away and I know that she is watching over me and my family daily as our personal guardian angel!
Outside the classroom, my time is spent with my husband and son. We enjoy board games, cards, movies, and especially being outside playing anything!
What Do You Feel Makes Butler Catholic Special?
What makes BCS so special is definitely the students and the supportive parents. Kindergarten is where partnerships are developed between school and family to provide a strong community of support. Each child brings a wealth of educational and cultural experiences to kindergarten. I hope to promote self-discovery and self-awareness. My goal is to foster independence and help children to gain and use necessary skills for small groups as well as the class as a whole. The classroom is a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment in which the students have the opportunity to explore, investigate, and predict.
